About me

I’ve been running my own businesses since 2000.

I jumped from life as a Deputy Health Club Manager, working shifts, weekends, bank holidays and even Christmas Day, because I decided there was more to life than working unsociable hours for not much money, with someone else’s rules.

I’d qualified as an Exercise to Music Instructor in 1998, so becoming a self-employed Fitness Instructor seemed like a good idea.

The turn of the century was huge for me. Not only did we have Y2K and the end of the world to worry about, I’d left my job and was essentially unemployed.

Thankfully, it worked out. 😂

I spent many years teaching in local health clubs and leisure centres before specialising in Pilates and starting my own community classes in 2012.

Suddenly I wasn’t just teaching.

I was the decision maker, marketing team, accounts department, health and safety manager and social media team. I was responsible for everything.

Even with an educational background in Business Studies, the learning curve was steep. I followed business coaches, kept learning, completed numerous additional qualifications, taught my classes and raised two children, who are now adults themselves.

And somewhere along the way, I built the freedom I’d been looking for when I left that health club all those years ago.

Recently I realised there was a common thread running through all the different work I’d done. I’m naturally curious. I notice things, ask why?, investigate what’s actually going on and look for the underlying cause rather than simply dealing with the symptoms.

The subject may have changed from bodies to businesses, but the way I think hasn’t.

And that’s how The Business Diagnostics Consultancy came about.
